I was born in Seville in 1957, August 19th, World Photography Day. That day in 1839 the invention was officially announced in the Paris Academy of Sciences. Casuality?
Mi first contact with Photography was when I was 17 years old, when I bought my first reflex camera; a japanese Petri one. I mounted a small Black and White laboratory and since then I did not stopped taking pictures. My education since then was totally self-taught.
In 1981, cartoonist Emilio Rioja put me in touch with Teresa Adán, in order to work as a reporter with this journalist. Together we covered the Worl Cup Championship from 1982 in Seville, besides a number of interviews with famous people from the art scene in different fields. Dorantes from Brazil, Maria Dolores Pradera, Antonio the dancer, Rafael Alberti, they were photographed by me in that time.
Later, I also published pictures in some foreign newspapers, like ‘O Pais’ from Portugal, or the journal ‘El Globo’ from Venezuela.
Our team work ended, I stopped temporarily mi photographic activity and returned to it in the digital age. Against what it is recommended by lot of photographers, I have tried different variants and subjects: nature, portrait, landscape, urban photography, etc. However, most of my pictures and my preferences have always been landscape and, currently, urban or «street» photography.
I never stop getting training attending talks, workshops and specialized courses, because in this fascinating world we are always learning. And that are part of my current goals: learn and express myself as well as I can; no more… and no less.
Nací en Sevilla en 1957, el 19 de agosto, Día mundial de la Fotografía. En ese día de 1839 se anunció oficialmente el invento en la Academia de Ciencias de Paris. Casualidad?
Mi primer contacto con la Fotografía fue a los 17 años, cuando compré mi primera cámara réflex; una Petri japonesa. Monté un pequeño laboratorio de Blanco y Negro y desde entonces ya no paré de hacer fotos. Mi formación desde entonces fue totalmente autodidacta.
En 1981, el dibujante Emilio Rioja, me pone en contacto con Teresa Adán, a fín de que trabajara como reportero con esta periodista. Juntos, cubrimos el Mundial de Futbol del 82 en Sevilla, así como una serie de entrevistas a personajes famosos del mundo del arte en diferentes ámbitos. El brasileño Dorantes, Maria Dolores Pradera, Antonio el Bailarín, Rafael Alberti, posaron para mi cámara en aquella etapa.
Posteriormente también publiqué fotografías para algunos diarios extranjeros, como O Pais, de Portugal, o el diario El Globo, de Venezuela.
Se acaba nuestro trabajo en equipo, parando temporalmente mi actividad fotográfica y me reincorporo al mundo fotográfico ya en la era digital. En contra de lo que suelen recomendar muchos fotógrafos, he trabajado diversas variantes y temas: naturaleza, retrato, paisaje fotografía urbana, etc. No obstante, mi mayor producción y mis preferencias han sido siempre el paisaje y, actualmente, la fotografía urbana o “street photography”.
No dejo de formarme asistiendo a charlas, talleres y cursos especializados, pues en este mundo tan apasionante estamos aprendiendo siempre. Y esos son parte de mis objetivos actuales: aprender y expresarme lo mejor que puedo; nada mas…y nada menos.
